Camp Ridgecrest for Boys is located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, just 20 minutes east of Asheville. The camp staff are passionate about helping campers grow the whole self: spiritually, physically, mentally, and socially. Opportunities for paid ministry are available in many different areas. We have a strong need for excellent Junior Counselors who are excited about learning and responsibility. The role of a Junior Counselor is rooted in service, loving kids unconditionally, and sharing Christ in daily life. Activities include Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Football, Weight Lifting, Archery, Riflery, Crafts, Rocketry, Outdoor Living, Bible Study, Guitar, and more. We have additional positions for activity directors, counselors, adventure staff, laundry staff, office staff, and photojournalists. Base JC salaries begin at $290/week plus food and lodging. Junior Counselors live in cabins with campers and receive 2.5 days off per two-week session. Employment runs from late May to early August. Camp High Rocks has one opening for a director of its summer whitewater program. Director must be experienced in teaching mostly open boat, but experience in kayak and C-1 is very helpful. Rivers we paddle include the Chattooga, Nantahala, Tuckaseegee, French Broad, Green, Pigeon, and Toe. Qualifications: At least 21 years of age, experience leading river trips, Wilderness First Responder, and ACA whitewater instructor certification (certification available prior to camp season). Camp High Rocks has a director opening for our ceramics program. Director should have experience working with clay and time spent running a studio including: kiln firing (electric), pinch pots, wheels, and glazing. The job places an emphasis on organization, creativity, flexibility, and imagination. Responsibilities: A director will lead a team of 1-2 other instructors. Camp High Rocks has an opening for the director of our Challenge Course. Our course consists of 18 high elements at 25 and 45 feet. Director will lead 3 facilitators and together they will guide campers through ground school, processing, and debriefing the experience on the course. The Director will be in charge of overseeing course maintenance and scheduling cabin groups for the course. Director will also be in charge of supervising a team of 3 facilitators and serving as the lead facilitator on the course.
