With 190 staff (one third college graduates!) for just over 400 campers we are able to meet the individual needs of every single child.
Activities include almost all sports, arts, and outdoor adventure. Session length: two weeks (for youngest campers), four weeks or seven weeks.
The Whale Camp's purpose is to increase awareness, understanding and appreciation of the life systems in the oceans and particularly in the Bay of Fundy and to use metaphors from the sea and sea life we help to put human life into perspective.
Make new friends. Together, raise the sails on our fifty-foot schooner. Help plot the course. Sit in the captain's chair. Check the compass to stay on course. Eat good food. Photograph the rarest species of whale in the world. Learn about current whale research. Track and research whales, marine mammals and birds. Play soccer and volleyball with your friends. Research tide-pool ecology. Watch bald eagles, hawks, and rare seabirds. Watch marine biologists and island fishermen free a trapped whale or porpoise from fishing nets. Photograph puffins at close range. Row in an island cove with puffins just feet away. Help a professional ornithologist catch and band colorful songbirds.
