Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts

Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts (www.usdan.com) is the arts day camp declared a "Best Of" camp by TimeOutNY/Kids, NY Metro Parents, and Long Island Press. The 2010 season begins on June 28th at the Center's 200-acre woodland campus on Long Island. Usdan is open to young people ages 6 to 18, and no audition is required - rather, admission is based on an expression of interest in the arts. Each summer, 1,600 students travel to the Center each day on air-conditioned buses that depart from neighborhoods throughout the New York metropolitan area.
Usdan was formed to provide the arts as a companion for life through great teaching and the camaraderie of fellow students whose common bond is their love of the arts. Usdan offers more than 40 programs in Music, Theater, Dance, Visual Arts, Nature, Chess, and Writing. Although Usdan's mission is for every child to establish a skill-based relationship with the arts, the unique stimulation of the Center has caused many to go on to professional careers. Coed Day CampThe Fencers Club Summer Day Camp is a great chance for kids to combine mornings of entertaining educational activities with afternoons engaged with the exciting, fast-paced sport of modern fencing.
Creative writing: Learn to write expressively without constraints. The curriculum will be created by Bruno Navasky, a poet, teacher, author of several books and a writer for the New York Times Sunday Book Review. Math games and logical puzzle solving: Math games and puzzle solving teach fundamentals of mathematical thinking outside of a formal curriculum. The program is designed for us by a group of Harvard math/physics graduates who have extensive tutoring experience and love logical games. Chess: Learn to play chess in a program designed and supervised by Bruce Pandolfini, one of the most highly regarded chess teachers in the US (depicted in the movie Searching for Bobby Fisher). Instruction and game-play at all levels.
FENCING CLASS- Choose your weapon: Epee, Foil or Sabre- Modern fencing is a dynamic, exciting sport. Fencing teaches discipline, grace, agility and strategy. In our new state-of-the art, fully air-conditioned facility in Chelsea, students of all levels of experience will work with our famous coaches. Learn the fundamentals and then get on the strip and try to outsmart your opponent in a classic battle!

Summer Institute for the Gifted

Gifted students in grades K-12 can participate in the renowned Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG) program. Hosted at some of the most famous colleges and universities in the country such as Princeton University, Dartmouth College and UC Berkeley, SIG has the best well-rounded program for gifted students as it combines academics, social, cultural and recreational opportunities. Students live and learn on campus for three-weeks, leaving with the additional confidence gained by an experience that is all their own.
Because of our small classes, low teacher-student ratio, and teaching assistants, SIG is able to individualize the program for each and every student. Student safety, security and health are our top priority as SIG programs are well staffed for careful supervision. Ten day programs are available for younger students and most of our residential programs have a commuter option. Our more than 25 years of experience have made us the leading organization in the field.

Since 1966, Seacamp is the first program dedicated to the education of youth in marine sciences.
Seacamp's location in the Florida Keys allows for a truly unique marine science program, providing an array of activities under the guidance of academically-trained instructors. Students work at their own level of interest, choosing from 24 different areas of study.
Seacamp's SCUBA diving program is open to qualified campers. Courses are designed to give the diver training in SCUBA techniques enabling them to use SCUBA as a tool for underwater research. Satisfactory completion of Basic or Master Diver certification course earns certification through NAUI. Already certified campers choose from our combined marine science/SCUBA courses.
Seacamp aquatics programs include sailing and windsurfing. US Sail certification is offered to beginners in sailing. Seacamp offers the American Red Cross course in lifeguarding.

The Mid-Island Y Jewish Community Center believes that the real "value" of camp is the value of friendship. Situated on over 350 sprawling acres at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds in Wheatley Heights, Long Island, the Mid-Island Y JCC's summer programs emphasize caring, sharing and respect with friends old and new. Whether your child is enrolled in one of our day camps, sports camps, Aspire Program for children with special needs or theatre camp, each offers an action-packed schedule. Camp program activities include: American Red Cross swim instruction, Archery, Tennis, Ga-Ga, Soccer, Mini-Golf, Baseball, Dance, Pioneering, Photography, Music, Nature Hikes, Jewish Culture and much more. Special events include: Late Nights, Dress-up Days, Day Trips, Live Entertainers, Maccabi Games (Color War), Camp Play, Camp Carnival and more. New features are our zip line and low ropes challenge course.
We also offer terrific camps for tweens and teens including travel camps and Counselor-In-Training programs. Additionally, we offer onsite preschool camps for ages 2 to 5 and before & after camp extended care. Our camper to counselor ratio is always low and our spirit and love of camp is high. For the past 63 summers, campers have enjoyed the spirit and excitement of the Trail's End Camp experience. Chestnut Lake has been designed to emulate the traditions and excellence of Trail's End while providing your family with the flexibility of 3-week or 6-week alternatives. In 2008, Chestnut Lake opened its gates as a premier session camp located in the northeast corner of Pennsylvania, just 2 1/2 hours from NYC and Philadelphia.
Chestnut Lake offers boys and girls a brand new, state-of-the-art facility along with creative day and evening programming. Chestnut Lake is an all around camp with a strong sports program. Some highlights of the new facilities include: large, modern bunks, Olympic size pool, indoor roller hockey rink, crafts and technology center, theater arts center, outdoor adventure course, expansive gymnastics center, golf driving range, beautiful lakefront, and extensive sports complex.
